Environments Designed for Gender Equity in Sport & Physical Activity Lab
Reimagining equitable and inclusive sport and physical activity through a gendered environmental approach
What is a gendered environmental approach?
Traditional understandings of sports injury take a biomedical perspective and intervene at the level of the individual body.
Our gendered environmental approach widens the lens to consider the modifiable social and cultural contexts that may place bodies at risk in unevenly gendered ways.
Moving the target of intervention upstream to gendered environments has potential to make meaningful population gains for sport and physical activity participation, performance, and injury risk.
